Welcome Something New

An afternoon of mapping and exploration

5 September 2026 · 10 October 2026

Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, Nairobi

You do not need to know exactly why you are coming.

You may have a clear question. You may be facing a decision, a recurring pattern or something that simply does not feel clear. You may only have a vague feeling that something deserves attention.

Or perhaps, for some reason, you simply feel like joining and you do not yet know why.

All of that is welcome.

An afternoon to explore

Welcome Something New is an afternoon where we explore what is present for you.

There is no need to arrive prepared. There is no need to perform, find the right words or already know what you want to change.

You can bring a question, a challenge, a recurring situation, a decision, curiosity or simply yourself.

Together we explore what becomes visible.

The afternoon combines individual exploration, group exercises and different ways of looking at the questions people bring.

We know where the afternoon starts. We have several mappings prepared, but we do not decide in advance exactly where it will take us.

That is part of the experience.

What could you bring?

Almost anything.

Perhaps you recognize one of these:

  • Why do I keep getting stuck here?

  • Why does this situation affect me so strongly?

  • I have a decision to make and I cannot see clearly what to do.

  • Something keeps repeating itself in my work or relationships.

  • I know something is going on, but I cannot really put it into words.

  • I have a question, but I am not even sure it is the right question.

  • For some reason I strongly feel like joining, but I do not know why yet.

There is no requirement for your question to be important, difficult or perfectly formulated, or even for you to have a question at all.

Sometimes a very simple question opens a new perspective. Sometimes the original question changes along the way. Sometimes you just know it is time to go for a surprise.

What you can expect

The afternoon has a clear structure, while what we explore within that structure depends on the people in the room.

We work in a grounded, practical and playful way.

There may be moments of looking closely at something. There may be movement, interaction and group exercises. There may also be unexpected turns.

You are always free to decide how far you want to participate.

Our intention is not to lead you toward a predetermined answer, but to genuinely meet and get surprised together.

You create the conditions for how far and where you would like to go, and we support a space to look differently, notice more and explore what is there.

Very often, that brings clarity.

Sometimes it also reveals a next move that was difficult to see before.

Mapping

We call our way of working Mapping.

Mapping is about exploring a situation by meeting it as equal human beings, especially when we come together around it.

Instead of immediately trying to solve something, we first become curious about what is actually there when we look at it together.

  • What are we seeing?

  • What might we be missing?

  • What changes when we look from somewhere else?

  • What becomes clearer when other people are part of the exploration?

Mapping draws inspiration partly from systemic and constellation work, together with other forms of experiential learning and exploration.

It is deliberately open.

A clear goal is welcome. So is not having one.

Two perspectives, one afternoon

Welcome Something New is facilitated by Arjan Schollaart and Trizah Wangui Muragu.

We both have extensive experience with systemic and experiential work and have facilitated this kind of work individually many times.

This is the first time we are bringing our approaches together.

We also bring two different cultural perspectives into the room. One rooted in The Netherlands and one rooted in Kenya.

That difference is part of what makes the exploration interesting.

We may notice different things, ask different questions and see a situation from different angles.

Portrait of Arjan Schollaart

Arjan

Arjan's experience has been shaped through extensive training and work with, among others, Nell Parre and Karin Deden of Parre & Deden Consultancy, Wiebe Veenbaas of Phoenix, Jan Jacob Stam of the Hellinger Instituut and Elmer Hendrix of Instituut voor Systemisch Werk.

His professional background brings together systemic facilitation, organisational development, and work with individuals, leaders and entrepreneurial teams in diverse professional and cultural contexts, supporting both leadership development and the growth of purpose driven ventures.

Trizah

Trizah has studied and worked with approaches inspired by Bert Hellinger, Jan Jacob Stam, Nell Parre and Karin Deden, Thomas Hübl and David James Lees, integrating these influences into her own practice of systemic exploration, trauma informed awareness and experiential facilitation.

Her professional background brings together systemic work, personal exploration, patterns across generations, leadership, experience with life coaching, and ways of looking at how past experiences can continue to influence the present.

A small group

We are keeping these first two afternoons intentionally small.

We expect around 10 to 15 people, with a maximum of 20 participants.

The setting is informal and personal.

You do not need previous experience with this kind of work.

Just come as you are.
